Lake Cerknica

One of Europe's largest intermittent lakes, just minutes from Apartments Mija and Zala.

~5 min drive from the apartments

Lake Cerknica lies at the heart of the Notranjska Regional Park and is one of Slovenia's most unusual natural phenomena – a karst lake that often disappears completely in summer, only to reappear in autumn and winter and flood the wide karst plain.

The area is a haven for nature lovers: birdwatching, walking and cycling trails around the lake, rowing when the water is high, and the picturesque village of Dolenje Jezero with views of Mount Slivnica, long surrounded by legends of witches.
