Križna Cave

One of the best-preserved water caves in the world, known for its chain of underground lakes and guided boat tours.

~22 min drive from the apartments

Križna Cave is the only show cave in Slovenia that remains completely naturally preserved – with no artificial lighting or concrete paths. It's known for its 22 navigable underground lakes (out of 45 in total), separated by slowly-growing natural sinter barriers, and for exceptionally rich cave fauna – ranking among the most biodiverse caves in the world.

The cave has also yielded extensive cave bear bone finds, some up to 146,000 years old. On the guided tour, visitors are given rubber boots and a flashlight and cross the first lake by boat, accompanied by an experienced guide.
